Halloween 2007

Ahhh…halloween!  This pic was taken at our wards trunk or treat.  The kids went around the parking lot trick or treating at everyone’s car trunks.  It’s nice to have somewhere to take them without worries of who they’re receiving treats from.  Dad also took them out with our neighbor on halloween night.  The kids had loads of fun.  The girls wore out halfway through the neighborhood and came home to help hand out candy.

Last year there were hardly any trick or treaters but this year we were blown away.  In fact, we ran out of candy and had to turn off the light and shut the door.  I have always assumed that the tradition of handing out candy to virtually hundreds of kids was started because it was an inexpensive thing to do.  It’s really not so anymore, and I hate that.  The candy has really gotten expensive, especially when you’re handing it out more than once.  Alas, we don’t let it take the fun of the holiday away from us…this too we shall overcome…or rather, we’ll just pay up and shut up!

I enjoyed making the girls dresses, they turned out somewhat like barbies in my opinion…I even have to admit that I think they were super cute!

X played the vampire roll to a T.  He wouldn’t speak, just grunted, growled and glared at people, except to say “trick or treat”.  Needless to say, this drove his best friend mad.  She was also dressed up as a vampire, but couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t talk to her.  She finally got mad and ran home, ending her night of trick or treating early.  Oh, I think I mentioned in an earlier post that they have that theme thing for school dress up and X was going as a sheriff.  He came home kind of ticked off because people kept asking him if he was “woody” or a policeman.  Understand that he is an exacting child…nothing  but the proper name will do, so he corrected people all day.  In the end he still loved his costume and decided it didn’t matter much what others were saying…at least that’s how he felt after our conversation…hey!…it’s what moms are for.

We are already planning next year’s costumes.  At least the kids are.  It’s always lots of fun to see what things a child’s mind can dream up!
